LinkedIn Newsletter Builder
Assemble editions from existing content.
I produce a LinkedIn newsletter as a way to share my content with my audience (since LinkedIn notoriously suppresses external links). But compiling content — that already exists elsewhere — into a newsletter is time-consuming and repetitive.
What this automation does
As a Claude skill on a scheduled task, this automation drafts my newsletter. It repurposes existing long-form content into short intros, populates recurring sections (links to upcoming webinars and recently published blog posts) from a central database (Airtable), writes social teaser posts, and generates per-issue banner images in Canva. Everything is written back to Notion, where I can edit before publishing on LinkedIn.

Step 1: Fetch long-form drafts from cloud storage
For each scheduled issue, Claude retrieves a draft of something published months earlier from Google Drive.
Claude composes a two-to-three-paragraph intro for each issue that hooks the reader and summarizes the article's core argument. It retrieves and follows specific voice and tone guidelines. A link to the original article is added, so the reader can read the full version if they want.
Step 2: Populate recurring sections from your database
Query the Airtable database to fill standard newsletter sections: upcoming events, recent posts, published YouTube videos, and links to free resources. Pull only items that fall within a specified date window.
Step 3: Draft social teaser posts
Write a short-form promotional post for each issue. These are published with the LinkedIn newsletter to drive traffic. A separate social media voice and tone guide is followed.
Step 5: Generate per-issue banner images
Claude uses the Canva MCP and a Canva template to create a branded banner for each edition. The template is populated with the name of the newsletter edition and the edition number.
Step 4: Update the newsletter hub
Claude writes all drafted intros, social posts, and recurring-section content back to each issue's record in Notion. Everything is staged in one place for a final review pass.
